Things have been a bit stressed at work and at home. It helps that I've adjusted my work schedule to 9:30 to 5:30. It makes it easier getting the boys to school in the morning and I miss the traffic crunch going/coming to work.

BRAND NEW CONCERT TONIGHT AT ELECTRIC FACTORY!

Oh yeah, I'm ready for a show.

ah, you know when you do something you need to do but you know you're kicking yourself in the ass at the same time? i just did that. mel and i had not quite a fight this morning. it was more like why what i do is wrong and unfair and crap like that. of course this revolves around me coming to bed 30 min later than expected last night. anyway, it bothered me, so i just emailed about how i felt about how things are handled between us. lol. i can expect a crappy monday night. damn, and i was looking forward to enjoying Heroes tonight. oh well. you do what you have to do, i guess.

There are three screenwriting contests within the next four weeks. The new script won't be ready, however, there is an alternative.

I read a earlier draft of my action/fantasy script. I never sent this particular draft out, but it has potential. The story still reads pretty tight, IMHO. There's a few spots that need fixing but that's with every draft. I'm going to focus on updating this draft and sending it out. I don't expect to place (although it would be nice). I'm doing this more to get back into focus and have a feeling of accomplishment about my writing.

I need to stop playing WoW long enough to remember how to focus on other priorities. I'm going to take November off. It shouldn't be too hard since I'll be away the first week anyway. I can only wonder how many guild members I'll lose but that really doesn't matter in the realm of real life, does it?

Still need to see '30 Days of Night'. I saw the Will Smith 'I Am Legend' trailer. It looks very promising. I read they're remaking 'Escape from New York'. I'm not happy about that.

Looking forward to 'Sweeney Todd'!

This weekend was pretty laid back, as most tend to be. The boys had a Halloween party Saturday night, and since the place was dadless, I got to go home and leave Mel to network. Ah, three quiet hours at home, leveling my human mage for the first time in months.

I have my new horror script outlined and even started writing but I'm far from a stable writing routine. Not good. I'm not stressing it this week since we'll be in FL all next week.

I only hope one, if not both, of the boys will join me in the Haunted Mansion. I'll solo it if not. Either way, I'm not missing my Haunted Mansion fix. It's been my favorite Disney World attraction since my first visit back in the 70s (when Pirates of the Caribbean was just a 'Coming Soon' sign in front of a bulldozed lot).

In case you're wondering, here's a quick run down of the past year:
1. Dad stayed with us after mom died. That was tough. Besides all of us still being raw, dad required a lot of attention. We didn't realize that.
2. Flew down to FL on Xmas day for a very relaxing visit. I can't believe I actually read a book at my inlaws. We also had the greated cinnamin rolls in the universe.
3. I celebrated my birthday in February by outlining a new horror script. I planned on spending March writing it, but instead I hyperfocused on World of Warcraft. I think it's my way of escaping the fear of failure that comes from investing time to write a script, receive positive feedback and sale potential, and then have it all fall through. It's happened before. I guess it's left me more than a little gun shy.
4. My Gateway laptop motherboard died, after only three years. Instead of getting it fixed, I bought an Alienware m9700, with optional 3 year warrenty. Sweet.
5. We celebrated Summer by trading in the blue Corolla for a bright red 2007 Camry, with moonroof and spoiler. Ah, a red car. Now I really am Middle Aged Man! I love how the car looks and feels. I love driving home after a long day with the moonroof open and music blasting out to the world.
6. The boys started meds over the summer. The focus issues were just too severe. They both take for ADD and Dan also takes for anxiety. You know it's time for meds when the kids say they like being able to focus. Luckily the dosage is enough to help them stay on task without turning them into zombies or messing with their sleep.
7. Work is still work. Renovations are complete and now I have a nice large office and my own department space. I have nine staff. It's good. Though I admit, I'm bored by the day to day stuff.
8. Mel and I are still coasting along. Marriage is marriage. Lol. Not too much I can add to that.

I guess that's it for today.

so last weekend i cleaning out the guest room closet, to make room for dad's stuff when he moves in next week. i was surprised by how many books i have kept through the years. i liked buying and keeping books. i donated many of my paperbacks a few years ago to overseas troops. this time i found three boxes of hardcovers. so this time, i bagged them up and donated them to our library. i don't miss them. i really don't see myself reading Rama II, 3001, or The Lost World again. i hestitated with the 3 books of the Star Wars: Heir To The Empire series. that was re-read worthy. but our library is very cool. we go every week and i know they make good bucks with their used book sales and all that cash goes to expanding the collection.

of course, i ended up some stuff that needed to go into the attic. at which point i realized how packed our attic was. so i ended up cleaning out a good portion of the boys' old toys and high chairs and just crap at this point. they're not going to play with this stuff again and it isn't good enough to pass on.

i like making room. it's a good accomplishment feeling.

watched Heroes and Studio 60. both are awesome shows. Heroes is the best show about superheroes ever. it even outshines Marvel's Ultimate line, about heroes in a 'real world' setting. check it out.

that's my life as it continues on. not thrilling but i have fun. that's not too bad.

Excellent: Tim Burton is directing the movie adaptation of Sweeney Todd
Excellent: Helena Bonham Carter is starring as the landlady
Lame: Helena Bonham Carter tends to play ugly roles. Just once, I'd like to see that slice of English heaven dolled up in some fishnets and heels!
